# 130 Delicate White Flowers Wedding Cake

May 4th, 2012
Delicate White Flowers Wedding Cake

Oh how I love this cake!
This cake was amazing. The bottom layer was dark chocolate cake, filled with (my own recipe) chocolate mousse. The middle was french vanilla cake, filled with fresh strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries. The top was red velvet cake, filled with a cream cheese/cheesecake filling.
The whole cake was covered in a lightly tinted vanilla buttercream, and over one hundred tiny hand-crafted fondant flowers.
LOVE!

Cutting the cake! I love that I have this picture.

# 129 The Cake Stand Cake

April 29th, 2012
The Cake Stand Cake

So I made this cake stand, and I immediately needed to try a cake on it.
(Of course!)

This was a chocolate cake, with a peanut butter filling (it just sounded too good not to try), covered in vanilla buttercream.

It was thoroughly enjoyed. :o)

# 128 Williams Wedding Cake

April 28th, 2012
Williams Wedding Cake

This wedding cake was for a friend of mine's daughter. Their Utah theme was "monster movies" - which I thought was awesome! So I tried to do something that served some justice to how unique and awesome they were.
This cake was made up of layers of chocolate cake that had a peanut butter filling, and a white & yellow cake that had a vanilla marshmallow buttercream filling, all covered in vanilla buttercream and decorated with a garland of 96 hand-crafted gum paste flowers.

Aren't they great? This is my favorite.

I get an opportunity to take a picture with the cake!

The happy couple ♥

# 125 Baby Kay's 1st Birthday Cake

March 22nd, 2012
Baby Kay's 1st Birthday Cake

This birthday cake was for my friend, who waited two boys and 6 years for her little girl. Her only request was that it be a girly girl cake, so I threw everything girl on it I could muster. For Kay, I made the inside colorful, because who doesn't love surprises? :o)

This is a white cake, covered in vanilla buttercream frosting.

This is from the camera of Baby Kay's mom.

# 124 The St. Patrick's Day Cake

March 17th, 2012
The St. Patrick's Day Cake

This was a farewell cake for a kid headed off to Air Force boot camp after his big St. Patrick's Day party. It was chocolate and vanilla cake, with vanilla buttercream, and decorated with chocolate shamrocks.

This is how we do St. Patrick's Day breakfast at our house.

# 123 The Escalade Cake

February 27th, 2012
The Escalade Cake

This cake was vanilla, with a fresh strawberry pie filling, covered in vanilla buttercream and fondant. This cake was the first car-off-the-board cake I'd made, and came with some challenges. Having done one now, I know what I would do differently!! (bigger wheels, inset, different mounting, etc) So so many mistakes.
Thank goodness the client who got this cake has ordered from me before - so she knows I can do better!!

# 122 Star Dragon Birthday Cake

February 16th, 2012
Star Dragon Birthday Cake

I decorated this cake for a friend - she baked a yellow cake in a star shape and brought it over with some red candies and lots of candles to decorate the cake. So fun! This was decorated in white frosting and candies with a fondant dragon.

# 121 Sugar-Free Valentine Cupcakes

February 9th, 2012
Sugar-Free Valentine Cupcakes

These were sugar-free chocolate cake, topped with sugar-free vanilla frosting. I definitely have some science to explore concerning sugar-free cakes!!! These were not as good as I wanted them to be. But they were pretty!

# 120 Superman Birthday Party Cake (and Cupcakes)

January 21st, 2012
Superman Birthday Party Cake (and Cupcakes)

This was a birthday cake for my son's birthday party - his first big deal party, at Chuck-E-Cheese, with friends from his school and everything! This was a chocolate cake (his favorite), with mountains of vanilla buttercream frosting (the only reason he really likes cake anyways), topped off with fondant details.

# 119 A "Super Friends" Birthday

January 9th, 2012.
A "Super Friends" Birthday

For my son's birthday this year, I made him a cake to celebrate as a family, and then some cupcakes to celebrate with some friends later on. I used "The Super Friends" (circa the 70's) as a theme, because my kids have been addicted to The Super Friends for a few months now - we get the DVD collection from the library and they can't get enough of it! There is something really great about the old-school Superman, the 'save-cats-in-trees' Superman as opposed to the 'punch-people-a-lot' Superman.
It's charming, and I won't lie - I love it.
So these are chocolate cakes, frosted with vanilla buttercream. And lots of color. :o)
Superman, Aquaman, Batman & Robin, the Green Lantern, The Flash, and of course - Wonder Woman. (My daughter's favorite)

# 118 The Christmas Cake

December 24th, 2011
The Christmas Cake

As tradition requires, once again I have made the annual Christmas cake. This year I added a thin layer of Nutella. I think it really added to the chocolate magic. :o)

Layers: (from bottom up)
chocolate cake
nutella
chocolate buttercream
2" chocolate truffle loaf
covered in chocolate buttercream
topped with chocolate ganache
decorated with silver dragees, green candy melts
(piped on parchment paper to be holly leaves),
 and red Cadbury Christmas balls

# 117 The Thanksgiving Turkeys Cake

November 23rd, 2011
The Thanksgiving Turkeys Cake

Ok... so to be honest, my 5-year-old son helped me with this cake. But you know your day is now happier, having now laid eyes upon this beauty.

This was a double chocolate zucchini cake, topped with buttercream frosting, and three delicious candy turkeys. :o)

# 116 Girly Girl Baby Shower Cupcakes

November 18th, 2011
Girly Girl Baby Shower Cupcakes

I made these for a baby shower, for a new mom of a tiny precious baby girl. Every girl is a princess, and the only requirement for these cupcakes was that it be a really girly design. I did my best to include pink and happy and ruffles (oh my!), with a little bit of sparkle. After all, girls are made of sugar and spice, and everything nice!

These cupcakes were white and chocolate marbled cake, topped with vanilla buttercream and fondant flowers.

I made some of my flowers using my new flower presses from Sugar Delites, one of my favorite places to get cake supplies and tools. LOVE the site.

# 115 Worm Pie Cupcakes

October 27th, 2011
Worm Pie Cupcakes

# 114 Ghost Cupcake Cupcakes

Ghost Cupcake Cupcakes

I made these for my son's  Halloween Party 'Cake Walk' at school. They were white cake (colored candy corn colors), and buttercream frosting. The tiny cupcake is a mini Reese's peanut butter cup. :o)

# 113 Princess Ballroom Cake

October 15th, 2011
Princess Ballroom Cake

This was my daughter's 3rd birthday cake - and I tried to put everything on it that she asked for. The main thing she wanted was all of her favorite princesses, dancing with their princes. I looked everywhere for little figurines, but Disney doesn't make hardly anything with their princes, unless it is their ken doll versions - but that was too big (and too expensive!) to do for a cake. I ended up making all of the princesses and princes out of polymer clay, which so far have broken once or twice from play but are easily mended with some gorilla glue.

This was a chocolate cake, covered in a peanut butter chocolate buttercream frosting, topped with silver dragees, a banner, and the princes and princesses waltzing around at the party.

In my searching for pictures to reference while making the little figurines, I discovered that "The Beast" is actually named Adam - and Snow White's prince is actually named Christopher.
There's a little trivia for you!

The birthday girl approved.

Delicious.

Figurines on the cake:

Snow White & Christopher
Ariel & Eric
Rapunzel & Flynn Rider aka Eugene Fitzherbert
Cinderella & Prince Charming
Belle & Adam aka The Beast
Aurora aka Briar Rose & Prince Philip
